Turtles for my Grandson

I received the stamp and die and matching paper in my May Stamps of Life card kit. I figured it would be a good one for my grandson to use. This morning he went fishing with his dad and papa. Before he left he came into my room and told me I should make a card for Owen (a boy in his neighborhood that gave him a bike when my grandson’s broke) using the turtles. This is what I came up with.

I wanted to show you the stands I made for taking pictures of cards. These white pieces are cut from a plastic canister of Lysol wipes. I cut a strip that is approximately half an inch and then cut slits going forward at either end. I’ve been pinched in the middle so it’ll stand.  I do have the frogs with the spikes in them that florist use but this works better for me because the frogs nicks my cardstock.

I’d love to see some of your crafty upcycled items. Post them in the comments or email them to SusieLouCreates@ Gmail.com. Let me know what it used to be and what it is now. I’ll post any ideas I get in a later post.

Try to get some crafty time in. SusieLou

Butterflies remind us of hope

The metamorphosis of a caterpillar to butterfly is a beautiful picture of hope. Hope for a better future filled with color and adventure. Leaving behind the crawling and flying high.

Today we need a reminder that we can have hope. The country is erupting and seems out of control but we can change our direction and become better than we were before.

I love these cards I made today.

Stamping platform video

I haven’t done many videos but I thought it might be fun to try. Here is my video review of the Stampin Up Stamparatus. After reviewing the final video (I won’t tell you how many “takes” this took 😉) I see some things I need to change like not having the light shining on my project. So as I come across other things that I’d like to share via video I will work on improving my presentation.

By the way, I don’t sell Stampin Up products but if you would like a referral to a demonstrator I’d be happy to give you one.

Recent projects

I've been spending more time in my craft room - getting things organized and making cards.  I did create my logo and put it on the pegboard attached to my desk.  That was fun.

Most of my cards I send to Cards for Soldiers - a great organization you can find on Facebook.  The cards are sent to deployed military so they can write home.  Check them out and consider donating some cards.

I'm also going to send a bunch to Scrapbook.com for their Cards for Kindness campaign.  I enjoy making the cards but I don't send out enough myself.  I made a bunch of cards to send to family during the quarantine but haven't gotten even half mailed ... and thankfully the stay-at-home order has been lifted here in Ohio.

Create something beautiful every day ... even if it is a kind word.  Susan

This card uses products from the May 2020 Stamps of Life kit.  This is a new club I joined.  Each month I get a box filled with papers, cardstock, ribbon, dies, stamps, bling ... all wonderful goodies.
These flowers are from a digital cut file I bought from The Ton Stamps.  They are so pretty and cut nicely.
I joined the Stamps of Life club in April but they were out of kits for that month so I chose an older kit still in stock.  I've got a start on my Christmas cards.
Stamps of Life has a die for this cover frame but I have a Brother Scan and Cut so I created my own cover frame.  I'm on the Clubhouse Committee for our condo community and I'm sending out birthday and anniversary cards to our neighbors.

The roses on this card are from a new set from Elizabeth Craft Designs - Moda Victorian Roses.  They were so easy to layer and are so sweet.  Smaller than I expected but they make a nice cluster.  I realized that I need to get some dusty pink inks.  Hopefully Altenew will have a sale soon - I'm collecting their ink spots and weeding out other brands.  I really like Altenew inks over some other companies.

This is the pegboard I just installed on my work table.  My son made the table as a kitchen table but he and his wife decided it wasn't the style they wanted (it was his first major woodworking project).  He cut it down to a square for me and we put it on wheels since I share my craft room with a guest bed and need to move it out of the middle of the room when company stays.  You can see my logo in vinyl on the pegboard.  I got the "create" on there crooked but it turned out okay.

I'm starting again!

My original blog, Susan-MyThoughtsMyHeart.blogspot.com was my beginning but I have changed my focus and wanted my blog to reflect that.  So here goes!

My goal is to get back into posting my creations.  I plan to focus on creating, just as the name says, but may write about things of interest with creating.  I am mainly a cardmaker and scrapbooker but I occasionally crochet and sew.   I will share products that I love and those that I don't so much.

I will leave comments turned on but if I get bogged down with a lot of spam, I'll close them.  I am happy to read constructive criticism (meaning helpful to improve :) as well leads on products that you use and love.

I hope you enjoy your time on my blog.  As a way of introduction, please post your blog address and state you live in.   I'm in Ohio.
